UNOPENED -
Complete 3-part mini-series based on the hit TV show by Jim Salicrup and Marie Severin.
All three books
UNOPENED, but I noted that #2 didn't look perfect, so it seems to have a touch of storage wear, but all three are still in high-grade condition.
01/1984 - Epic Comics - UNOPENED - by Carl Potts/Alan Zelenetz/Frank Cirocco - "Blind Trust"
Been in storage since I originally bought it almost 40 years ago (and never opened it) - I see some storage wear has dropped it down to upper-mid-grade, but I see the pages are still white.
1979
![DC Comics](https://jeffpedneau.github.io/ebay/DC Comics thumbnail.png)
- Dollar Comics -
UNOPENED - various war-stories, including "The Viking Comando"
I bought this off the newsstand when I was a teenager in 1979 -- never had time to look at it -- been in storage ever since (40+ years), so it has slight storage wear.

Hulk, Beyonder app; Secret Wars II - "Cross-Over"
Both books appear to have been purchased for re-sale -- one has impression of price written on outside of bag -- neither is fully NM anymore.

A couple of issues from two different mini-series -- the Nine Princes in Amber and Guns of Avalon. Other than one slightly bent corner (visible in photos), these books look brand new and

- by Stan Lee/Jack Kirby, Kraven the Hunter app - "The Power of Ka-Zar!" and Dr. Doom feature by Roy Thomas and Wally Wood called "Unto You is Born...the Doomsman!"
The book looks like it's been read a couple of times -- has a store mark in the CCA box -- a missing corner on back cover (easily seen in photos), as well as a math problem. Pages are off-white, and the book still would have easily graded VG- at worst, but the copy is
INCOMPLETE due to the cut-out coupon on the back side of what is page 8 of the Dr. Doom story, so a that upper-left corner of story panels is gone or affected (see photo with my hand showing the page).
Definitely a gap-filler issue.

UNOPENED ($3.50 cover price)

For all intents and purposes, this looks like a brand new copy that hardly looks handled at all. I peeked at the first page and see one small printing blemish which shows a little white dot on an all-black background, but good grief, this is a near-pristine copy regardless and very obviously never read.

1988 -
UNOPENED![Marvel Comics](https://jeffpedneau.github.io/ebay/Marvel Comics thumbnail.png)

First issue looks about new with near-white pages and would be close to NM. Issue 2 looks the same except for some fading on the extreme edges of the covers, both front and back (see photos). I safely marked the pair at VF as a result.

- by Bill Mantlo/George Tuska/John Byrne, vs Sentinels; Final Issue - "The Sentinels Hunt Again!"
Appears around mid-grade from the front, but the back has a cut mark on the top-right (visible in photo) and more surface build-up than allowed for a mid-grade book. Has been read before but still looks a mite better than a straight-up reader copy still with mostly nice-looking pages.

1986 - UNOPENED - Eclipse Comics - Complete Set - by Mark Evanier/Dick Spiegle
The complete mini-series. Books look like they were bought and handled only long enough to store away for the next 35 years (which is exactly what I did, heh -- never opened them), so they pretty much still look close to new.

1975
![Marvel Comics](https://jeffpedneau.github.io/ebay/Marvel Comics thumbnail.png)
- (w/ Curtis Publication) - a magazine-sized issue featuring Shang-Chi, Iron Fist and the Sons of the Tiger
Due to it unusual size, it was stored inefficiently and its edges ended up taking a beating in the 40+ years of storage. It is complete but definitely now falls squarely in the "reader" category.
1972
![Marvel Comics](https://jeffpedneau.github.io/ebay/Marvel Comics thumbnail.png)
- by Steve Englehart/Sal Buscema,
The Hulk, Dr. Strange and Sub-Mariner try and help the Silver Surfer leave Earth and encounter the Nameless One and free Barbara Norris (the Valkrie).
This book is flat and mostly clean, and extremely smooth (meaning virtually no wrinkles at all). It still has off-white pages that are in great shape and everything is attached, but as you can see from the back side, when it went through the folding process, it didn't get centered right, leading to that overhang you see in the photos. Look at the view from the bottom, and you'll see it's
NOT a spine roll at all -- it simply was printed that way -- and yes, there does appear to be some evidence that it was held open and read as well, so it's not like that spine is in perfect condition anyway.
Bottom line is that structurally, it's closer to a FN copy, but I'll go ahead and acknowledge the printing defect and subsequent handling and price it lower -- you're not likely to find a VG copy even at this price!
Tons of photos, so take a good look!
11/87
![DC Comics](https://jeffpedneau.github.io/ebay/DC Comics thumbnail.png)
-
UNOPENED - by Denny O'Neil/Adam Kubert/Andy Kubert - "Into the Silver Pyramid"

10/84 -
UNOPENED![Marvel Comics](https://jeffpedneau.github.io/ebay/Marvel Comics thumbnail.png)
- by Mills/Wagner/Gibbons - "Doctor Who and the Star Beast"
Looks brand new, but it was obviously stored up against the back of a bagged copy and got some tape rub up against the title -- you can see that in the photo -- the smudge up in the title area. I had to demote this otherwise mostly new-looking copy down to below mid-grade. Bottom-left back corner also has bend. Pages off-white.

Obviously this set of four Bronze Age books is in poor condition with no covers, and so are only useful as gap-fillers, they all nevertheless seem to be complete copies, are entirely readable and served that very purpose for me over the course of 40 years of collecting!

Official Marvel Index to the Fantastic Four, which provide information and synopses of the original volume of the FF (and various annuals). Back of issue 2 features an alternate version of FF Annual #1, which Stan Lee rejected in favor of the version that ultimately got published. If you want a very nice reference guide to some of the FF's earliest adventures, this is a great pick-up!
Books were never opened and still look just about brand new. I do note that some of the inner pages of issue 2 were cut wrong during printing, which were cut with folds, which when you unfold them, cause the corners to stick out a bit from the rest, but this printing defect in no way affects the readability of the contents. But I marked the set down to NM- anyway.

Capitalizing on the generic craze of the 1980s, Marvel thought they'd have a little fun joining in, and created this "No Frills" edition. I only opened it to take the pictures -- it has been in storage for 38 years and still looks almost brand new and has off-white pages.

UNOPENED - a pair of issues published to raise money to fight the famine in Africa
Marvel published
Heroes for Hope starring the X-Men in 1985, and DC followed with
Heroes Against Hunger, featuring Superman and Batman the next year.
Both books are
UNOPENED, but while the X-Men book still seems close to brand new, with a slick, shiny surface, still with near-white pages, the DC book has faded a bit in the back and has a little chipped spot up top from storage wear (just visible in photo) -- pages not
quite as white.
Heh -- check out that X-Men back cover too -- very obviously by Jim Starlin!
Both still high-grade, but the set itself is no longer pristine.

NEWSSTAND VARIANT -
UNOPENED - by Len Wein/Gil Kane
It is an
UNOPENED copy, but the back top edge doesn't seem to have weathered the last 4 decades perfectly, as you can see in the photo, with a touch of wear and fading. Plus, there's a bit of a smudge up above the word "CHALLENGE" as well, so the copy is still high-grade but certainly
not NM. Pages off-white.
